Welcome to the 3rd annual Bluegrass And Nashville Dunfanaghy music festival, set in the charming village of Dunfanaghy, surrounded by the awe-inspiring scenery of Donegal.

To follow last year's great festival, we are currently assembling a top line-up of Bluegrass musicians, as well as multi-talented Nashville inspired bands.

While we are busy getting this years line-up together, have a look at all the amazing bands that came to Dunfanaghy from all over the world to play at the BAND festival last year!

Porter McClister

Do not miss this opportunity to see one of the finest guitarists living and working in Nashville today.

Porter McClister will fly to Ireland specifically to play BAND 2018. He will be playing for the first time ever in Europe, in Dunfanaghy!

Craig & Willoughby

Virginia-born Cathryn Craig has built a strong reputation as performer and songwriter singing with musicians such as Chet Atkins & The Righteous Brothers. Brian Willoughby is best known for his virtuoso performances with folk/rock band Strawbs and also with Mary Hopkin. Craig & Willoughby will be playing in the truly unique setting of the Holy Trinity Church in Dunfanaghy.

Lovesick Duo

Coming all the way from Italy to play in Donegal (for the first time!) the Lovesick Duo are an incredibly vibrant & energetic two-piece that never fail to entertain a crowd!! Rocking any guitar at hand & with the fastest double bass playing you’ll see this side of Pisa the duo explore Bluegrass, Country & Rock’n’Roll! An absolute must see at BAND 2018!!

The Burying Ground

We are delighted to be able to include these amazing musicians all the way from Vancouver in BAND 2018! Steeped in influences from 1920's Ragtime, Country & Western, Mississippi Blues & New Orleans jazz, The Burying Ground have been charming diverse crowds, across all ages & musical tastes, throughout western Canada & the U.S.. and now it's Dunfanaghy's turn!

The Remedy Club

This Americana/Roots duo, KJ McEvoy & Aileen Mythen are known for their tight vocal harmonies and intelligent song writing. McEvoy has been singled out for praise as a guitar player of great expressiveness & technical aplomb and Mythen for her stunning vocal performances. Live they are exciting and captivating, veering from intimate & soulful to full on hoedown!

Wookalily

Wookalily are a multi-faceted, female-led band who’ve been wowing audiences with their compelling, jazzy blend of bluegrass, folk and alt-country. With folk-gothic troubadour tales, new-time mountain music, glorious melodic hooks and a drum kit which guarantees purists cover their ears. Five women - too girly to be a beat group, too funky to be a folk group, too good to miss!!!

Mules 'n' Men

Mules 'n' Men is the new name for the old New Breadwinners! A confusing situation, I know, but hidden within the confusion are some of the finest young musicians from Ireland's Bluegrass scene. Come along and hear them for yourself at BAND 2018!!

Two Time Polka

Hailing from County Cork the Two Time Polka are an Irish Cajun band and a highlight of any festival they play! With a distinctive sound that has its roots in Cajun, Zydeco, and Bluegrass music they produce a spectacularly vibrant show! If you haven't heard them already come along & see why they are always a favourite in Dunfanaghy!

The Knotty Pine String Band

The Knotty Pine String Band have been playing together since the early 90s bringing bluegrass and American roots music to audiences all across Ireland, Europe and the USA! With a strong country-roots influence from the likes of John Prine & Kris Kristofferson the Knotty Pines are always a bluegrass festival favourite & a brilliant new addition to the BAND line-up!

The Rye River Band

This 5 piece band from Dublin have been performing their mix of predominantly electric guitar and fiddle playing American Roots music across countless festivals! From old time country folk ballads all the way to "high charged" rhythm & blues. Probably the original Irish Americana band, their music is everything you would expect from musicians dedicated to this genre!

The Hot Tamales

A local favourite, The Hot Tamales are known for cooking up a wicked stew of Americana, Old Time Blues and Country with a sprinkling of Raucous Rock n' Roll! A well-established act on the vibrant music scene in the village it wouldn’t be a Dunfanaghy Festival without the incredible Hot Tamales!

Erdini

Donegal musicians Erdini are influenced by both their locality and the extensive culture of Ireland and incorporate elements of bluegrass, country, blues, jazz and traditional Irish music. They are well-known for their often raucous performances, blistering solos and scintillating vocal harmonies!

The Hideaways

The Hideaways are an Americana–influenced 3 piece band of singer–songwriters. Their trademark sound features Janine's warm vocals, perfectly matched by Clarke and Roy's harmonies and their understated acoustic and slide guitar accompaniment. A highlight at this year's BelNash Festival & are not to be missed at the BAND Festival 2018!

The Hillbilly Rednecks

A great welcome back to the Hillbilly Rednecks, the incredible 7-piece from Co. Donegal who are fast putting County Donegal high up on the Irish Bluegrass music scene. This band of accomplished and well respected musicians will be once again be bringing the heart & soul of Bluegrass music to Dunfanaghy.

MossBound

MossBound are a new and exciting duo who share a love of music and songwriting. Their fresh modern country sound is built around beautiful harmonies. They recently released their EP Stone which (after BAND 2018!) they are heading to Nashville to promote!

The Big Muddy

The little band that make the big noise are how this 3-piece have been described. From Greystones, Co Wicklow, The Big Muddy have slowly crafted their Americana & roots sound in venues & Festivals throughout Ireland. Their blend of acoustic & electric covering the giants of the great American songbook, as well as their own compositions, gives the band their trademark sound!

Geordie & Wilson

A legend on the bluegrass scene throughout Ireland and the founding member of the extremely popular Broken String Band, Geordie’s fiddle playing is nothing short of extraordinary. Along with Wilson Davies on guitar and double bass, Geordie will be leading vibrant sessions throughout the festival.

The Daylight Wobblies

A high octane, mostly ‘unplugged’ jam session from some of the North West’s top musicians, featuring guitar, bass, drums, piano, organ, harmonica and mandolin from former and current members of the Mudskippers, Graffiti Limbo, Men N Black , New Moon, Stray and others. These guys don’t take themselves too seriously and who knows what could happen or who might turn up to play!

High Heeled Converse

High Heeled Converse are an acoustic duo from North West Donegal. Pat Muldowney on guitar and vocals is surely one of the finest working guitar players in Ireland today. He is joined by his partner, the gorgeous and irrepressible Caroline Coyle, who will bring her distinctive husky Celtic/Scottish influenced jazz and folk vocal styling to the mix!

Some of Ireland's most beautiful beaches, cliffs, headlands, forest parks and scenry can all be found in the area around Dunfanaghy. The location of Dunfanaghy makes it the perfect base for visiting the beautiful north west.

The village overlooks the magnificant Horn Head, is adjacent to the blue flag Kilahoey beach with its golden sands and crystal clear water, and is a short drive to the picturesque harbour at Portnablagh, the blue flag beach at Marble Hill, Ards Forest Park, Ards Friary, Doe Castle, the Rosguill Peninsula, the Fanad Peninsula, Glenveigh National Park.

Dunfanagy is also located right on the Wild Atlantic Way! Perfect!
